Flushing Town Hall announced that it has awarded $438,475 in grant funding this year through the nonprofit’s GO Queens Grant and Arts Grants for Queens regrant programs.

The Arts Grants for Queens program funds Queens-based artists and art organizations dedicated to enriching the community through various artforms. Eighteen individual artists have received $2,500 each through the Arts Grants for Queens, and 50 organizations have received between $1,500 and $5,000.

Flushing Town Hall’s GO Queens Grant program also funds Queens-based arts and culture organizations. Through this initiative, the organization awarded 25 $10,000 grants to nonprofit organizations with annual operating budgets under $250,000.

This year’s GO Queens Grant and Arts Grants for Queens recipients were chosen by a panel of artists and other local stakeholders selected by Flushing Town Hall.

Some of this year’s winners include Mare Nostrum Elements, a Woodside-based performance group, and the Rockaway Film Festival, which brings affordable, diverse cinema and cultural programs to the Rockaway Peninsula. Other recipients include documentary filmmakers Rachel Brown and Patricia Silva, who received grants from Arts Grants for Queens.

Flushing Town Hall received donations from the Howard Gilman Foundation and the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) for each grant program. The Howard Gilman Foundation awarded $250,000 to the GO Queens Grant program, and the NYSCA awarded $188,475 to the Arts Grants for Queens program. NYSCA’s funding also supports the Queens Community Arts Grant, which awards funding to Queens-based community organizations, groups and collectives, and the Artists in Queens Grant, which gives funding to individual, Queens-based artists.

Ellen Kodadek, executive and artistic director of Flushing Town Hall, thanked both organizations for their generous donations and incredible opportunity to fund artistic endeavors within the community. “Through these grants, we affirm our commitment to nurturing creativity, providing platforms for expression and fostering connection.”
