A popular highlight was the friendly dance competition held at the DJ booth, which had kids showing off their best moves to the cheers of an enthusiastic crowd.

Isabella, a parent attending the event, shared her excitement about her daughter’s enjoyment. “I haven’t been able to get her off the bouncy slide all day,” she said with a laugh. “It’s been a beautiful day, and it’s wonderful to see so much of the community here.”

In addition to the bouncy slide, kids delighted in an array of activities, including giant chess and checkers sets, bowling and arts and crafts stations. Another parent, Marcel, reflected on the fun he had with his young daughter.

“She loves arts and crafts and spent a lot of time at the table. It’s great to see so many activities for different ages, and I got to join in with her as well,” he remarked.

The event was held in collaboration with the Detective Brian “Smiles” Simonsen Foundation, named in honor of NYPD Det. Brian Simonsen, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty on Feb. 12, 2019, during a robbery response at a Queens T-Mobile store. The foundation continues to honor his legacy by supporting community events and causes.
