The Salvatore LaRussa Dance Theatre held its annual free outdoor dance festival at LaRussa Studio, located at 66-85 73rd Pl. in Middle Village, on Sunday, Oct. 6.
Organized thanks to support from Council Member Robert Holden, Senator Joseph Addabbo Jr., the Material for the Arts, the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development and New York State council on the Arts, this event featured performances from various performers, including Yang Sun, Natalie Long, Taylor Bonadies, Julia Dunne, Ellery Jernigan, Liana Acevedo, Sarah Blake, Fiamma Lenzu-Carroll, Anabella Lenzu, Abby McBroom, Jake Corcoran, Susanne McHugh, Emanuele Fiore, Natalia Sanchez and Arianna Stendardo.
“It’s really great to get to share dance in a free and open space,” said Alyssa Fuhrman, who choreographed the dance segment “Run Away With Me,” which was performed by McBroom and Corcoran.
“I feel so fortunate to be here at this festival, sharing space with so many amazing people, because, especially in New York City, we all have lives, we all have jobs, we all have things we have to do. But it’s important we take the time and come together for art and to come together for community and each other,” Corcoran said.
