Santa paid a special visit to Council Member Robert Holden’s office on Friday, Dec. 20, to bring presents and a smile to the local children.
Holden’s office is in District 30 in Queens, where he covers the neighborhoods of Ridgewood, Maspeth, Middle Village, and Glendale.
The kids got the chance to sit down with Santa and chat before receiving their gifts. There were hugs all around and festive refreshments to enjoy.
“Thank you to Santa for stopping by our office yesterday to bring presents and holiday cheer to the kids! We had a great time with delicious cookies, milk, and festive fun,” Holden said on social media.
“Thanks to everyone who joined us and made it such a memorable day!”
Holden’s office is situated at 58-38 69th St. in Maspeth and is open every weekday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. However, until Jan. 1, the office will be working remotely and on limited hours so that staff can spend time with their families.
Northside Bakery cooked up some delicious treats for the party, and Holden thanked co-owner Teresa Kramer for calling in to drop them off.
“Northside Bakery is always there for the community, and we’re lucky to have them in the neighborhood!” he remarked.
The bakery is located at 76-01 77th Avenue in Glendale. It also has a location in Williamsburg and offers delivery services throughout New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland, and Massachusetts. It is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays.
It is a family-operated business founded by Richard and Teresa Podedworny, with their children being “the backbone of the bakery.”
Holden also called attention to his Veterans Winter Drive at the party, which they are still collecting for at his office and the offices of Council Members Vickie Paladino and Joann Ariola. They are collecting new coats, hats, gloves, jackets, and other cold-weather essentials for the veterans at the Borden Avenue Veterans Shelter.
“Thank you, Mary, from Maspeth Town Hall, for stopping by our office today with items for our Winter Drive supporting veterans. Your generosity means so much!” Holden stated.
