Prime suspect identified in fatal shooting of College Point woman in December: NYPD

Detectives from the 109th Precinct in Flushing have identified the suspect in the fatal shooting of a College Point woman in her 14th Road home in mid-December.

The NYPD announced on Monday that Kevin Rodriguez, a 33-year-old Hispanic man, is the prime suspect in the murder of 32-year-old Jennifer Navarette during the early morning hours of Dec. 16, 2024.

Police from the 109th Precinct responded to a 911 call of a woman shot inside her home at 119-01 14th Road, where they found the victim with a gunshot wound to her head. EMS responded to the location and pronounced Navarette dead at the crime scene.

A second victim, a 49-year-old man, sustained gunshot wounds to his back and arm and was transported by private means to Flushing Hospital Medical Center on Parsons Boulevard, where he was listed in stable condition, police said. On Tuesday morning, an NYPD spokesman said the murder was a domestic incident but could not tell if the shooting victims were related, adding that there are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.

On Monday, the NYPD released photos of Rodriguez and described him as having a light complexion, approximately 5 feet 7 inches in height, approximately 210 pounds with short black hair, brown eyes, and a heavily tattooed neck.

A reward of up to $3,500 is being offered for information that leads to his arrest.
