A Queens grand jury indicted a Brooklyn motorist in the fatal hit-and-run collision that took the life of a Breezy Point man following a road rage incident on the Belt Parkway that began just two blocks from his Sheepshead Bay home in May 2024.

Malcolm Anglin, 32, of Ocean Parkway, was arraigned in Queens Supreme Court on Wednesday on an indictment charging him with murder in the second degree, leaving the scene of an accident without reporting causing death, and criminal possession of a weapon. Anglin is accused of intentionally driving into 55-year-old Thomas McDade in a Breezy Point parking lot and speeding away.

McDade suffered traumatic brain injuries and died six months after the collision on Nov. 16, 2024. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined his death resulted from blunt force trauma to his head sustained in the collision. Anglin was previously indicted on attempted murder and related charges before McDade succumbed to his injuries.

“As alleged, this defendant turned to violence to settle a senseless dispute with a stranger,” Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said. “He is accused of deliberately slamming his SUV into a man with whom he had argued approximately ten minutes earlier in an apparent road rage incident on a Belt Parkway exit ramp.”

According to the indictment and court records, on May 13, 2024, at approximately 5 p.m., Anglin was driving a gray Honda CR-V on the Belt Parkway when he got into a road rage incident with McDade, who was driving a green Subaru SUV. Anglin drove onto the grass on the side of the highway to pass McDade’s vehicle on exit 11S and stopped his car on the exit ramp, preventing all other vehicles from moving. Both men exited their vehicles and exchanged heated words.

After the argument, both men returned to their vehicles, and Anglin followed McDade onto the Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge across Jamaica Bay into Breezy Point. At approximately 5:08 p.m., McDade stopped his vehicle in a parking lot at Beach 208th Street and Rockaway Point Boulevard. McDade left his car and walked toward Anglin’s vehicle. Anglin then allegedly reversed his SUV, put it into drive and drove at McDade at a high rate of speed. McDade was struck by Anglin’s car, thrown into the air, and landed on the pavement on the back of his head. Anglin drove off and later returned to his Sheepshead Bay home.

Police from the 100th Precinct responded to the scene and found McDade lying on the roadway in a pool of blood. EMS responded to the location and rushed McCade to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center in Brownsville, Brooklyn. Police recovered Anglin’s vehicle at his home later that evening. It had a cracked windshield and a dent on the hood. Following an investigation, Anglin surrendered himself at the 100th Precinct in Rockaway Beach on June 19, 2024.

McDade suffered a severe traumatic brain injury and was on life support with limited brain function. He remained in a coma until he died Nov. 16, due to the complications of the traumatic brain injuries associated with the injuries he suffered in the collision.

Anglin was arraigned before Queens Supreme Court Justice Ushir Pandit-Durant, who set bail at $5 million cash, $10 million bond, and $20 million partially secured bond and ordered the defendant to return to court on June 17.

“The grievously injured victim passed away six months after the incident and a grand jury has now indicted Malcolm Anglin for murder,” Katz said. “We will seek justice for Thomas McDade and his loved ones.”

If convicted of the top charge, Anglin faces up to 25 years to life in prison.
