June 30, 2016 Staff Report
It’s been a long time coming, but there are signs of retail life at 49-10 Vernon Blvd.
Signage for an ice cream shop, called Something Sweet, went up today. The store will take the space that had been the Delta Force Army Navy Store for 25 years.
The operator of the now-defunct Delta Force store owns the building, and had been using the prime retail space as storage for an eBay business for the past five years.
However, in January, he decided he would rent the space and put a “for-lease” sign in the window. He received an avalanche of calls.
At the time, he said he did not want nail salon, hair stylist, dentist or pharmacist since there are too many stores in the neighborhood like that.
The owner of the ice cream store was not available to provide details as to when it will open and what it will serve.
