Queensboro tree giveaway kicks off Saturday

Queensboro Hill will be the site of two nature-themed events Saturday where neighbors can help make the city a little more green.

The Queensboro Hill Neighborhood Association and New York Hospital Queens will be teaming up for a tree workshop and giveaway as part of the city’s Million Tree initiative. Anyone interested should meet at the hospital, on the corner of Main Street and Booth Memorial Avenue, at 9:45 a.m. The event runs through noon. Registration is required.

Saturday is also It’s My Park Day at Kissena Corridor Park, where volunteers can spruce up the green space by picking up trash and planting hundreds of flowers. The event is being held by the Kissena Corridor Park Conservancy in conjunction with the city Parks Department.

The dirty work will run from 9 a.m. to noon. Any interested parties can meet at the park playground, near the corner of 56th Avenue and Main Street.
