The Ozone Park location where an alleged robbery suspect was fatally shot by an off-duty corrections officer Saturday night.

An off-duty New York State corrections officer shot and killed a man who allegedly tried to rob him and four other individuals on an Ozone Park street Saturday night, according to police.

The incident took place at about 10:30 p.m. in front of an auto body shop on Rockaway Boulevard near 95th Avenue.

Detectives determined that the suspect, whose identity was not immediately released, walked up to the group of five men, displayed a handgun and demanded the keys to their motorcycles.

According to published reports, a struggle ensued, during which the off-duty corrections officer shot the suspect in the head.

Officers from the 102nd Precinct and EMS units responded to the scene. Paramedics rushed the suspect to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

An investigation is ongoing.
