It was a brutal week across Queens as our tops stories include elderly people being beat up by robbers on a Ridgewood train and a famous diner in Maspeth, a son who murdered his mother and dumped her body in a lake, and a Flushing doctor who was charged with manslaughter after a botched abortion killed his patient.

But it wasn’t all bad in the “World’s Borough,” as Glendale hosted the Dine In Queens kickoff event, and we featured a Korean BBQ joint that  is making some changes to traditional Korean food.

Here are our top 10 stories from this week:

  1. Cops were searching for — and cuffed — the man who was caught on video viciously attacking a 66-year-old man on an M train in Ridgewood for his wallet and cellphone.
  2. It’s official. After months of wondering, it was confirmed that North Shore Farms — a popular Long Island supermarket chain — is coming to the Whitestone Shopping Center to replace the former Waldbaum’s supermarket.
  3. Six Queens neighborhoods were named to Property Shark’s list of the top 50 priciest neighborhoods in four of the five boroughs.
  4. A paleo-friendly Korean barbeque restaurant in Long Island City is serving up a delicious twist on traditional Korean food.
  5. Two dine-and-dashers beat up the elderly owners of Maspeth’s famous Goodfellas Diner when they tried to stop the duo from skipping out on their meal.
  6. Whitestone and Flushing residents were warned of mail theft scams in their areas, as crooks have been using handmade devices to reach into mailboxes and steal envelopes that contain checks.
  7. Bayside residents are concerned that this one abandoned house on 49th Avenue is an eyesore and could potentially become a health hazard, and they want it fixed immediately.
  8. Hundreds of people came out to the Shops at Atlas Park in Glendale on Tuesday afternoon for some free food during the Dine In Queens kickoff event.
  9. A doctor who operates out of a Flushing office is facing manslaughter charges after allegedly causing the death of a 30-year-old patient who bled to death after an abortion procedure.
  10. A 21-year-old Rego Park man confessed to allegedly beating his mother to death, then bringing her body to Flushing Meadows Corona Park and dumping it into a lake.
