by VICTOR ROSS Transit officials will launch speedier train services on five key Queens subway lines as part of a $16 million citywide service improvement program, it was announced by the Transit Authority (TA).
The new schedules will affect thousands of daily riders on the A (Rockaway), E (Jamaica), F (170 St.), N (Ditmars Blvd.), and R (Continental Ave.) lines.
The cut in waiting time between trains are needed to deal with a three-decade high in public transit ridership that has caused crowded trains and subway platforms.
It was also learned by The Queens Courier that the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) will meet tomorrow to approve a similar service upgrading, early this summer, for its Queens bus lines.
