State to unveil plans for Ft. Totten site

Fort Totten will come a little bit closer to city parkland status Tuesday when the state Northeastern Queens Nature and Historical Preserve Commission unveils a draft of its plans for the site at a public meeting scheduled at the military base.

The plan, officially known as the Draft Fort Totten Preservation and Interpretive Plan, was the result of more than six months of work by the Manhattan preservation firm of Beyer Blinder Belle, said Scott Heyl of the Historic House Trust, a non-profit group affiliated with the city Parks Department.
