Police will launch a search for the driver of the van used by the four men convicted of killing a storeowner and off-duty policeman in a botched robbery attempt in East Elmhurst in December 1996, a spokeswoman for the Queens district attorney said.
Last week charges were dropped against Jason Ligon 33, of East Elmhurst who had confessed to being an accomplice in the murder of store owner Ira Epstein, 40, of Douglaston and off-duty Officer Charles Davis, 38, of St. Albans, said a spokeswoman for the Queens district attorney.
