LIC mom gets life for daughter

A Long Island City woman convicted of second-degree murder last month for the beating death of her 5-year-old daughter with a shoe was sentenced to 25 years-to-life Friday by Queens Supreme Court Justice Richard Buchter.

It was the maximum penalty allowed, said Sherry Hunter, a spokeswoman for the Queens district attorney.

Prosecutors contended Mexican immigrant Eva Campos, 30, of 52-18 35th Ave. repeatedly hit her daughter Rosario Ladino more than 120 times with the heel of a sandal two years ago. After the attack, she neglected to call paramedics for nearly eight hours as the girl drifted into a coma and blood oozed from her ears.
