Michelle Wallace was 3-for-4 with four RBIs and hit an RBI-double to right in the eighth inning to lead the Robert F. Kennedy softball team to a wild 14-13 win over John Bowne Monday at Kissena Park.
Shortstop Jennifer Giannone added to the hit parade, going 4-for-4 with five RBIs and three runs scored, Maritza Hernandez was 3-for-5 with three runs scored and Brittany Purcell was 2-for-5 with two runs scored and one RBI as RFK (7-1) extends its lead atop Queens III-B. John Bowne falls to 4-2.
The win over third-place Bowne came three days after the Panthers defeated second-place Flushing, 12-8. Hernandez was 3-for-4 with five RBIs and Nicole Sims scored three runs with an RBI for RFK, who jumped ahead 11-2 with a seven-run fourth inning.
Flushing (4-3) rallied to score two runs in the fifth, one in the sixth and three in the seventh, but couldn't get any closer than 12-8.
Jamaica 26, Thomas Edison 7. Kedesha Farquharson was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored, Rehana Amidon was 3-for-3 with three RBIs and Quiani Miller added three RBIs and two runs scored to lead Jamaica (3-5 Queens III-B) Monday at Cunningham Park. Thanks to seven RBIs by Farquharson, the Beavers also defeated Edison (0-8), 20-10 Apr. 24.
Flushing 11, Richmond Hill 7. Christine Cave went 3-for-4 with two RBIs for Flushing (5-3 Queens III-B).
John Adams 16, Cardozo 0. Natasha Kirkland went 4-for-5 with four RBIs and Francesca Romano struck out 12 for Adams (8-2-1, 6-2-1 Queens A).
Townsend Harris 4, Van Buren 1. Melissa Tubens struck out six and scattered four hits for the Hawks (4-9, 4-6 Queens A).
Grover Cleveland 25, Renaissance 2. Melissa Lugo went 4-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs for Cleveland (12-4, 5-4 Queens II-B).
Bayside 13, Townsend Harris 2. Theresa Mehlig went 3-for-3 with three RBIs, Kim Hattan added two RBIs and Allie Falco scored three runs to lead Bayside (11-2, 6-2 Queens A). Townsend Harris was led by Kristina Casper, who had an RBI-double.
John Adams 10, Bryant 5. Romano struck out 12 and was 2-for-2 with two runs scored, Kirkland belted a grand slam and Daneisha Lloyd was 3-for-4 with an RBI for the Spartans. Alma Pupovic had two RBIs and a run scored for Bryant (3-6 Queens A).
Newtown 16, Renaissance 3. Annie Wu was 4-for-4 with five stolen bases and Monica Pahl was 3-for-4 with a double, triple and five RBIs for Newtown (7-1 Queens II-B).
Forest Hills 17, Long Island City 3. Led by Dana Defelice, who was 2-for-2 with three RBIs and two runs scored, Fontaine Lloyd, who added two RBIs and two runs scored and Jessica Chow, who scored two runs and struck out eight, Forest Hills (7-1 Queens II-B) scored six runs in the first and third innings en route to the rout.
Grover Cleveland 13, Queens Vocational 2. Gladys Cruz was 2-for-4 with three runs scored and four stolen bases, Aurora Troche was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored and Jacqueline Malave was 3-for-3 with two solo home runs to lead the Indians.
Cardozo 9, Van Buren 6. The Judges rallied from a 5-4 deficit with five runs in the top of the sixth inning. Priscilla Juarez was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored and Erica Choit added two RBIs for Cardozo (4-4 Queens A). Van Buren drops to 0-7.
Archbishop Molloy 10, St. Agnes 2. Jaclyn Pizzo led the Stanners with two round-trippers and five RBIs. Molloy is 6-3 in league play.
Christ the King 3, Stella Maris 2. The Royals continued to impress, improving to 4-3 in CHSAA action Monday, as Janine Michel stroked a pinch-hit single and scored on an error in the seventh to preserve the win.
Christ the King 12, Archbishop Molloy 2. Christ the King got a stellar pitching performance from Tracy Florio, who allowed just two hits and struck out five, helping raise the Royals’ record to 3-3 in league play. Lynette Reyes was 2-for-5 on the day, driving in four runs. The Stanners fell to 5-3.
The Mary Louis Academy 16, St. John’s Prep 2. Lorina Lana had two hits and three RBIs for the Hilltoppers, who improved to 6-0 in CHSAA action and 12-3 overall with the win. Patricia Glauner and Elizabeth Berry also had two hits.
St. Francis Prep 8, Stella Maris 1. The Terriers got what they needed from starter Karla Grabher, who allowed just three hits and fanned five in the win. Michelle Guttierrez provided the offense, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs for the Terriers, who raised their league record to 6-2.
Stella Maris 17, St. Agnes 0. Kate Scotko completely baffled the St. Agnes batters, striking out 10 and tossing a five-inning perfect game for Stella Maris.
Archbishop Molloy 6, St. Francis Prep 3. The Stanners picked up their most impressive win of their short varsity career, beating perennial league powerhouse St. Francis Prep last week. Kristen Connor had the big blow, blasting a two-run home run in the victory.
