ELMHURST – A woman was found dead in her apartment Saturday after neighbors called police to report that a foul odor was coming from her unit, police said.
Police forced their way into the 33-year-old woman’s apartment at 85-18 95th St. and found her on the floor, they said. The woman’s name was not released. The medical examiner was to determine the cause of death and the investigation was continuing.
Man killed in Jamaica by oncoming ‘J’ train
JAMAICA – A man was killed by a moving train Aug. 21 at the Sutphin Boulevard subway station, police said.
The man, who was in his 30s, was struck by a northbound “J” train as it pulled into the station. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The investigation was continuing.
Queens Village Rikers guard arrested, charged in assault
QUEENS VILLAGE – An off-duty corrections officer was arrested by police from the 105th Precinct Saturday at her residence after she allegedly struck her sister in the eye, police said.
Kimberly Stubbs, 25, who works at Rikers Island, was charged with third degree assault for allegedly hitting her sister during a dispute they were having, police said. Her sister had pain and swelling to her eye.
Police did not release Stubbs’ address.
Pedestrian killed by car in South Ozone Park
SOUTH OZONE PARK — A man in his 30s was struck by a car and killed late Tuesday night at the intersection of North Conduit Avenue and Lefferts Boulevard, police said.
The man was hit at about 10:25 p.m. and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. No further details were available and police were continuing with an investigation late Tuesday night.
Ozone Park man shot in gas station robbery
OZONE PARK – A gas station attendant was shot once in the leg Saturday when two men robbed the station of an undetermined amount of cash, police said.
The attendant was taken to Jamaica Hospital and was in stable condition, police said. No arrests were made and the investigation was continuing.
Intruder assaults S. Jamaica woman
SOUTH JAMAICA – A man climbed through the window of a woman’s residence and assaulted her early Monday morning, police said.
The man, described as black and about 30 years old, engaged in a short struggle with the woman at 175-15 111th Ave. before fleeing the scene, police said.
The woman was taken to Mary Immaculate Hospital in stable condition. No arrests were made and the investigation was continuing.
Rockaway boy, 17, killed in car crash
BELLE HARBOR – A Rockaway Park teenager was killed after he lost control of a car and drove it into a tree on Beach 129th St. Aug. 21, police said.
Ryan Rudden, 17, of 232 Beach 125th St., was ejected from the car and pronounced dead after rescue workers rushed him to Peninsula General Hospital, police said.
An 18-year-old passenger in the car was also taken to the hospital with lacerations to the head, police said.
Hollis man killed in Brooklyn robbery
BROOKLYN – A Hollis man was shot and killed in Brooklyn by an unknown assailant Saturday, police said.
Adonis Baugh, 38, of 191-31 109th Rd., was shot once in the chest in what police believe to be an attempted robbery. Baugh was taken to Brookdale Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival, police said. No arrests were made and the investigation was continuing.
Police seek pair in boro crime spree
LONG ISLAND CITY – Police said they are looking for two men who stole vehicles from Manhattan parking garages and then robbed five Queens locations with a semi-automatic weapon.
In Long Island City, the men robbed Trade Fair Supermarket at 23-55 Broadway, Hess Gas Station at 39-04 Northern Blvd., and on undisclosed commercial location on Broadway, police said.
They also robbed Dunkin’ Donuts at 100-09 Astoria Blvd. in East Elmhurst and AVP Cellular at 85-02 Queens Blvd. in Elmhurst.
One suspect is said to be Hispanic, about 6 feet tall, 170 pounds, and between 35 and 40 years old. The other is believed to be a black 25-year-old and about 5 foot 8 inches tall, police said.
Forest Hills man charged in Brooklyn harassment
BROOKLYN – A Forest Hills man was arrested last week after he allegedly menaced a 30-year-old woman with a box cutter and shouted racial slurs at her, police said.
Richard Laraquente, 39, of 67-70 Yellowstone Blvd., was charged with harassment and criminal possession of a weapon at the site of the alleged incident in front of 207 Prospect Park West, police said.
Police arrest Bronx man in Jackson Heights slay
JACKSON HEIGHTS – Police have apprehended a man they believe murdered his wife earlier this month.
On Aug. 21, officers from the 115th Precinct arrested Robert Cabassa, 52, of the Bronx and charged him with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon in the Aug. 7 stabbing murder of his wife.
According to police, Catalina Cabassa, 33, was found dead in her apartment at 35-16 85th St. after her co-workers reported their concerns for her safety to authorities when she did not show up for work. When police arrived, they found her door unlocked, entered the apartment, and found her dead with two stab wounds to the chest, authorities said.
In addition to the concerned co-workers, police also received a call from the husband, who allegedly confessed to the crime, and were visited by the suspect’s daughters, who presented police with two suicide notes from their father, police said.
Man shot in head, killed in Astoria
ASTORIA – A dead man was discovered with a gunshot wound to the head Saturday, police said.
The 38-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene and a gun was recovered from the residence on the second floor at 34-17 Broadway, police said.
The medical examiner was determine the cause of death and the investigation was continuing.

Woodhaven pair tied up as 4 robbers ransack house
WOODHAVEN – Four men robbed two people at their residence Saturday, stealing an undisclosed amount of cash and jewelry, police said.
The men knocked on the door at 107-17 80th St. and when a 35-year-old woman at the residence opened the door, the suspects forced their way in with a handgun, police said. The men then woke up a 37-year-old at the residence and tied the victims up while they ransacked the place, police said.
No one was hurt during the robbery and the investigation was continuing, police said.
