Bulldogs bite into another win in RGMVM L.L. fall action

On another brilliant afternoon at Seither Stadium, the young Bulldogs gathered for a showdown at high noon against Team 4. The Doggies handed the ball to starter Anthony DeMario, who navigated his way through some early trouble with a couple of strikeouts.

The Doggies broke out in the bottom of the first. Mike Billera, Robbie Hofmann and Chris Piteo would load the bases, setting up Jonathon Murphy, who drove them in with a long double to center field. Andrew Crimmins drove in two runs with a single of his own. The Dog Pound would come out running for five runs in the first.

Andrew Crimmins would pitch two solid innings for the Doggies, allowing a single run in each inning. The Dog Pound would break lose again in the third, as Stephanie Abruzzo drove in a run with a single. Anthony Demario and Mike Billera also drove in runs of their own. Robbie Hofmann drove in two more runs, while Andrew Crimmins slammed a double to right center and later come around to score. The big inning had the Dog Pound barking.

In the fourth and fifth, the Doggies handed the ball to their dynamic duo of hard throwing right-handed pitchers. In the fourth Robbie Hofmann escaped a bases-loaded jam by striking out the side. In the fifth the ball was handed to the closer Chris Piteo, who struck out the side with fastballs.

Shanley’s Waste Management All-Stars cart away 7-2 win

On a beautiful afternoon at Seither Stadium, Shanley’s All-Stars faced off against Minor Team 6. The Stars fell behind early and the opposing pitcher would keep the Stars off-balance and hitless through the first three innings. But the Stars would change pitchers and hand the ball to hard throwing Sal Ciccone, who would keep the score in check.

In the fourth, lead-off man Robbie Hofmann would walk and Chris Piteo would leg out an infield single. These two used their speed to disrupt the opposing defense, as Hofmann stole home, sliding under the tag for the Stars’ first run. Sal Ciccone would drive in Piteo, with a hard single. Mikey Ingersoll, drove in Ciccone with a hard-hit double to take the lead.

Rob Shanley took the mound in the fifth and he pitched well. In the bottom of the inning, the Stars rallied again for a couple of runs. Johnny Gomez crushed a ball to left, but a tremendous catch in left killed the rally.

The Stars handed the ball to Piteo, who closed the door for the save with a strikeout. The final score was 7-2.
