It’s not too late to register for the four-hour workshop “Your Business as an Artist,” which will be held Saturday, May 31 at Flushing Town Hall from 10 a.m to 2 p.m.
The workshop is sponsored by the National Art League, based in Douglaston, and features the respected speaker Susan Koblin Schear.
“Your Business as an Artist” is targeted to beginning and emerging visual artists, especially those living, working, or studying in Queens, but the workshop will also be valuable for any artist who wants to refresh his or her knowledge about developing opportunities to show work at galleries and increase sales.
Schear, who has many years of corporate experience and is the president and founder of ArtIsIn, often tells artists, “How you present yourself can give your art a resonance and personality that adds extra value to the end product.”
At this workshop, Schear’s topics will include all the essentials: resumes, biographies, artists’ statements and cover letters; marketing, pricing, and presenting your work; and networking, promotion, and resources. Advanced registration must be received no later than May 28. Admission will be permitted at the door, only if seating is available.
This program is made possible in part by the Queens Council on the Arts, with public funding from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs.
In addition to receiving a wealth of information from Schear, participants will be served light refreshments and have ample opportunities to converse with their fellow attendees.
