To the Editor:
Every year since our beloved son, Michael, passed away on July 17, 2003, I sent a letter to The Queens Courier to keep his memory alive.
He was born on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1942, a time to reflect, and lend a hand to those in need.
The first letter to appear was a letter to my son in July 2003 in lieu of a eulogy. Last year's letter was to thank friends and many acquaintances who contributed to the Michael Cahn Foundation to upgrade the quality of life for the 2,000 residents/patients at Coler/Goldwater long-term care specialty hospital located on Roosevelt Island in New York City. Michael was a patient there for 29 years.
I am reporting how the money is being used. This past summer the foundation sponsored the “Art from the Heart” project which was displayed in the Gallery Riva, a huge success with works from the resident/patients from Coler and goldwater hospitals.
Some of the patients were rewarded for their success.
Thank you for your support with contributions for the Michael Cahn Foundation. You can contribute to this worthy cause. Send to Michael Cahn Foundation, 154-54 20 Road, Whitestone, NY 11357.
Happy New Year and Happy Chanukah to you and our family.
Al and Lee Cahn
