Pols object to cell tower installation on local religious facility

By Jon Minners

First it was commercial buildings and then it was private homes, but now even religious institutions are succumbing to the scourge of cellular phone antennas popping up throughout Throggs Neck and other areas, a trend that disturbs two local elected officials.

Councilman Jimmy Vacca and Senator Jeff Klein have once again brought up the issue of controlling the construction of cell phone antennas on the heals of an application filed with the Department of Buildings on January 6, detailing the installation of a telecommunications cabinet with antennas on the roof of 2730 Bruckner Boulevard, the site of the Crossway Christian Center.
