BUSINESS PROFILE Kids’ Summer Fun In A Safe Setting

With spring break over, the summer vacation is quickly approaching and the usual fear of how to entertain the kids for eight weeks sets in.
A solution is at hand as once again Young People’s Day Camp is opening its doors for an action-packed summer program for children between the ages of 5-14.
Located in south Bayside, this family-run camp offers a huge choice of sports — from swimming, basketball and gymnastics (new this year)— to arts and crafts, indoor activities such as movies and bowling, exciting day trips, and even natural science activities such as environmental projects, adopting a tree and hiking.
For the younger campers there are special events including magic shows, clowns and face painting and for the older ones there will be a talent show, dance party and a camp Olympics amongst other things.
Whatever your child is into, the camp seems to offer it and aims to provide a memorable experience within a safe environment.
Door-to-door transportation is provided to and from the camp and all drivers are fully certified. The counselors are thoroughly trained and all children are covered by the camp’s insurance.
“Since 1972 we have provided safe, fun filled summers for thousands of youngsters from Queens (as well as peace of mind for their parents),” says Jim Corleto, who has been with the camp for the last 25 years.
Over the years their camping philosophy has remained the same: to ensure a safe and memorable camp experience by combining a diversified program of physical activity with the excitement of trips, shows, and special events.
Young People’s Day Camp of North and South Queens is accredited by the American Camping Association and is supervised by licensed teachers and administrators. The ratio of campers to counselors is less than 8-1 (lower with younger campers).
This does indeed seem like the perfect summer solution — while the kids can have fun and learn new skills parents can feel happy knowing they are being well looked after by this experienced team.
Rates are less than $56 per day. All prices include transportation, two camp shirts, tote bag, trophies, awards, certificates, insurance. Flexible payment plans are available at no extra charge. Master Card, Visa, check, cash or money order accepted. A sibling discount is also available.
To find out more about the summer program, the camp is holding five Open House dates. For information on these and the camp in general, visit their website at www.queenscamp.com or call 1-800-856-1043.
