Married before 7,500 fans

La Terrazza, a cozy and candlelit restaurant on Queens Boulevard, was the special location where Dave Kerpen decided to propose to his longtime girlfriend and confidant, Caroline Fisher. Although a private proposal, the wedding proved to be quite a public affair!
In front of 500 friends and family members and 7,500 Brooklyn Cyclones baseball fans, Kerpen, 29, of Brooklyn married Fisher, 29, of Queens on Saturday July 8 in Coney Island’s KeySpan Park.
Wed by a rabbi at home plate following the conclusion of a 6:00 p.m. Cyclones game a reception was held immediately after on the practice field behind the park for the invited guests.
The first 2,500 fans to attend the game received &#8220Dave & Carrie” bobble-head dolls to commemorate the special occasion. The regular in-between-innings tee-shirt toss was replaced by a floral bouquet toss.
In addition, during the 6th inning, a check for $20,000 was presented to the David Wright Foundation, dedicated to helping the fight against Multiple Sclerosis. In the midst of this joyous moment in their lives, the pair raised $10,000 for the Mets player’s cause and their donation was matched by The Shops at Atlas Park.
Mr. and Mrs. Kerpen met while working together at Radio Disney. &#8220He was the #1 salesperson in the country Carrie proudly recounted. During a sales competition, I surpassed him and a close friendship was formed. Years later, I had had a daughter and he had moved to New York. We ended up reconnecting in February 2004 and have been happy ever since.”
Born and raised in Briarwood, the bride utilized her sales skills to convince her husband to leave Brooklyn and to buy their first home in the Little Neck area.
Aside from their passion for sales, the couple also shares a common interest in baseball. &#8220We are big baseball fans and we are huge Mets fans. Dave has been to every Mets opening game since 1986.”
Since the beginning of their relationship, the Brooklyn Cyclones have served as a key component in their romance. Carrie explained, &#8220We went on two dates there and immediately knew, before we were even engaged, that we were going to get married at the stadium. KeySpan Park gave us a small town feeling in the middle of a big city. It’s a beautiful sensation.”
The idea for a Brooklyn Cyclones wedding was a joint pursuit. &#8220We are not typical wedding people and we wanted to host the event in a unique and fun way. Dave wanted to invite everyone he’s ever known to the wedding and he knows a lot of people, so KeySpan Park quickly became a reality.”
After the event, the couple honeymooned in Jamaica at a family resort so that Carrie’s daughter could also join in the celebration.
