Elliott Sander, executive director and chief executive officer of the MTA, spoke at the monthly meeting of the MTA board Wednesday in response to questions about a report that the MTA was as much as $1.4 billion over budget for what are called capital projects, which includes the East Side Access and the Second Avenue subway.
MTA Chairman Peter Kalikow seemed more optimistic.
“As far as I know, we are building all the mega-projects,” Kalikow said. “I want them, Lee (Sander) wants them and Gov. Spitzer wants them.”
