Borough well represented at Rucker Park

Friday night, the nation’s top 24 prospects will convene at Harlem’s famed Rucker Park for the second annual Boost Mobile Elite 24 Hoops Classic at 7:30 p.m. Moreover, three of the top prospects - Sylven Landesberg, Samardo Samuels, and Devin Ebanks - hail from Queens.
In its debut last summer, the showcase attracted such celebrity coaches as Jason Kidd and Ben Gordon and featured NBA stars Steve Nash, Kenyon Martin and Smush Parker in attendance.
The 6-foot-8 Samuels, a Jamaica native who attends St. Benedict’s Prep in Newark, New Jersey, is considered one of the top big men in the country. He has already committed to Louisville. Ebanks, a former star at Bishop Loughlin in Brooklyn from Long Island City, is playing at St. Thomas More in Oakdale, Connecticut, and will attend Indiana next fall.
Holy Cross’s Landesberg, who last month won a gold medal at the Empire State Games, is the CHSAA’s two-time leading scorer. The sweet-shooting rising senior from Whitestone has yet to choose a school; he has narrowed his choices down to St. John’s, Georgia Tech, Texas, Virginia, and Kentucky.
