Senior Vice President of
State Bank of Long Island

Richard O’Brien has recently been promoted to Senior Vice President of State Bank of Long Island. He has worked in the bank’s Commercial Lending Division, and has extensive experience in many industries.
As Senior Vice President, O’Brien will oversee a team of 10 commercial lenders, including those in the bank’s three Queens branches: Long Island City, Maspeth, and Jackson Heights.
He is also involved in “a number of non-profit and community development projects,” and is looking to expand his services in Queens, he said, and to work with the members of his team.
According to Communications Coordinator Deborah Kendric, State Bank of Long Island “is supportive of numerous not-for-profit agencies, including the Queens Center for Progress, Queens Chamber of Commerce, Long Island City YMCA, the Greater Jamaica Development Corp., and others.
“We also have a long history of supporting the communities we serve,” she added, “and we will certainly be increasing our community involvement” in Queens.
O’Brien, who began his career with State Bank of Long Island in 1992 as a commercial lender, graduated from Long Island University with an MBA.
As a commercial lender, O’Brien, who prides himself on building good relationships with customers and his team, provides loans to commercial businesses, creates real estate loans, and works with financing and equipment lending, among other responsibilities.
“I look forward to introducing our unique brand of service to the Queens commercial market,” he said. “In addition to our relationships with many business organizations, we intend to strengthen our ties with civic and community organizations in the borough as well.
