Bruce R. Sapienza

Bruce R. Sapienza of Maspeth, Senior Vice President of Maspeth Federal Savings Bank and active member of the community, passed away on Saturday, November 24 following a battle with cancer. He was 50 years old.
In 1975, Sapienza began his career with Maspeth Federal Savings and was named a Senior Vice President in 1999.
At the time of his death he was the Personnel Director and was also in charge of advertising and public relations for the bank.
His colleagues at the bank said he was very understanding of everyone’s needs and problems and that they were honored to have crossed paths with him.
Aside from his professional obligations, Sapienza was also heavily involved in the community. He was a strong supporter of Our Lady of Hope School. He was also past-president of the Maspeth Chamber of Commerce and was coordinator of the summer concert series and Fun Run.
He is survived by wife Cathy and daughter Kristen. Arrangements were handled by the Papavero Funeral Home. Interment was at Lutheran All Faiths Cemetery in Middle Village.
