In advance of the feast of the Epiphany on January 6, when Christians commemorate “three Kings” bearing gifts to the baby Jesus, a “Children’s Mass” was held at Immaculate Conception Church in Jamaica Estates.
Students from the fifth grade of the parish school assisted in preparation of the Mass, which was celebrated by Father Theophane Cooney and bore real gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.
In a progressive move, two of the “three wise men” were played by girls.
