Racks Billiards isn’t your average pool hall. Whether you want to relax with a cocktail or a cappuccino, shoot billiards, play games in the arcade or dig into a meal, Racks offers something for every appetite.
The Astoria hot spot is a bar, lounge and billiards parlor all in one convenient location - easily accessible by car or public transportation.
Party rooms are available for private events and catering packages can be tailored to the clients’ needs. Buffet-style catered food starts at $23 per person.
Owner Peter Triantafillou knows his clientele and he designed his club to reflect what the customer wants.
“Basically, you want to treat everyone the way you’d like to be treated,” said Triantafillou.
Located at 19-26 Steinway Street (between 19th and 20th Avenues), Racks has 20 Gold Crown IV pool tables, all regulation Brunswick tables.
Hourly pool rates are $9.90 for two people with $4 per each additional person. The hall offers a variety of pool specials from the Early Bird (11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily; $15, any four hours up to 4 players) to Ladies Night on Thursdays (free pool from 7 p.m. to closing for ladies 21 and over with proper ID).
The 12,500-square-foot facility has a 40-foot full-service bar, a waterfall lounge and a restaurant with a full menu.
The restaurant features appetizers such as buffalo wings, fried calamari, and jalapeno peppers; assorted sandwiches from the 8 Ball (hot roast beef and mozzarella) to the Left English (chicken with grilled tomatoes and cheddar cheese); as well as salads like the classic Caesar and Chef; and entrees like chicken Parmigiana, Ribeye steak and jumbo fried shrimp. Prices are moderate, with sandwich platters starting at about $7 and entrees averaging from $12-$14.
Happy Hour is from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. daily with imports priced at $3.50, domestics for $2.50, and mixed drinks at $4 ($1 off all regular price top-shelf beverages).
Racks Billiards is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. until 2 a.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. until 4 a.m.
“We’ve got something for everyone - from children to retired people,” Triantafillou said. “And everything in between.”
