Mattone defeated FHM in a Bayside Little League rematch this week. John Turano came back from missing three games to help Mattone get out to a big lead which they struggled to hold on to. Big pitching by Billy and Manny Hatzinikolaou preserved the win for Mattone, who have now won five of their last six games after starting the season 0-6.
Major Division
Officefurniture.net 18, Jackson Hole 4. Playing for teammate James Callahan, who broke his wrist in an accident over the Memorial Day weekend, Officefurniture.net rallied for a big team win as every player had a hit and scored a run.
Texas Farm Division
Turano Contracting vs. DK Drilling. In a hard fought battle, Turano Contracting was led offensively by Miles Cox and Regan Goger who were the table setters. Cox and Goger used their speed to beat out infield singles in the second inning to keep a rally alive for Turano Contracting in this game played Sunday. Timely hits came from Nicholas Sanso and Matthew Curcio who each had an RBI in the inning to cap a four-run frame.
Defensively second baseman Matthew Curcio made a tough play in the first to get a force at second and Miles Cox made a backhanded catch on a low line drive at third to end the inning. In the second inning Nicholas Sanso and Regan Goger combined to get a couple of outs to end the inning.
Turano Contracting vs. Officefurniture.net. In the make-up for a rain out Turano Contracting came out strong against OFN determined not to fall behind early. This game quickly turned into a defensive struggle.
In the first inning for Turano Contracting, Tyler Hartman put on a show by getting an assist all three puts outs and holding their opponent scoreless in the first inning. In the second inning the star was leftfielder Jada Feliciano who ranged far towards the foul line and made a backhanded shoe string catch to rob the hitter of a sure bloop double. The defensive play of the day however, went to Gianmarco Damiani who went to his knees to backhand a low line drive and beat the runner to second base for the game-ending unassisted double play.
Keller Williams Reality 10, Novius Group 9. Charlie Peponakis went 3-for-3 with two home runs, a double and four RBIs. Ali Santoro pitched three great innings, Joseph Galanti went 2-for-3 with two RBIs to tie the game and Ryan Rinfret went 2-for-3 and had the game-winning hit in the bottom of the six inning.
Olympian Fuel Oil 11, Bonnie Brite Cleaners 10. In a tremendous battle of will last Thursday, Bonnie Brite slugged their way to five first-inning runs, led by Christian McNally’s three-run home run. David McCarthy went 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Brendan Artez hit a three-run homer in the third and pitched strongly aginst Olympians.
The Olympians also did their part at bat. Yanni O. hit a pair of home runs, a triple and drove in five runs, Jade Tse had two triples and two RBIs and Max Fevola had two single and a double.
In a back and forth game, Lucas Garces and Max Fevola pitched the first three tumultuous innings giving up runs, yet striking out key hitters with bases loaded.
Finally, Yanni’s pitching began choking the Cleaner’s offense, while Niko Vouniseas delivered the single in the last inning.
Officefurniture.net vs. Pee Wee Folks. The offense was on display in this one as Matthew Villa legged out two infield singles with his hustle and Frankie Pimentel and Chris Conti put on hitting displays of their own to keep Pee Wee Folks in it until the very end.
