OAKLAND GARDENS — A 39-year-old Whitestone woman was arrested after she drove drunk without a valid license in Oakland Gardens, the Queens district attorney said.
Christine Bonagura, of 145-29 23rd Ave. in Whitestone, was arraigned Oct. 13 before Queens Criminal Court Judge Ira Margolis on charges of driving without a license and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, Queens DA Richard Brown said. The defendant was fined $300, Brown said.
Bonagura was spotted by a witness as she swerved on the highway, nearly hitting several cars, Brown said. Police pulled the defendant over and found that the car's tire was blown and that she appeared to have been drinking, the DA said.
The defendant admitted that she had been drinking and had been coming from a friend's house, Brown said.
