Cross Island Sports: Your neighborhood fitness center

For a personalized workout experience where you can socialize with neighbors and friends while meeting your fitness goals, visit Cross Island Sports and Fitness Center. Founded in 1992 by physical therapists Neville, Joan and Michael Flowers, the full service facility offers a complete line of state of the art cardio and strength training equipment from Cybex and Paramount. The Flowers opened Cross Island as a facility for their recently rehabilitated patients to continue their post-rehab protocols, and today their practice is located just adjacent to the fitness center.
Cross Island offers a great schedule of fun and energizing group fitness classes, ranging from step classes to strength and toning classes. The classes act as a way to get an effective workout in as little as 45 minutes. The facility has a personal training program with skilled instructors that get results.
“We have spent a lot of time and energy improving the quality of our trainers to make sure that you get the motivation that you need and the instruction that you want,” says owner Michael Flowers. “And trust me, the workouts are amazing.” The dedicated fitness staff is highly trained and holds certifications from nationally recognized organizations. The personal trainers work to make each member’s workout experience fun and efficient, while always keeping safety and comfort in mind.
Cross Island truly has something for members of all ages, like the Silver Sneakers program for seniors. The classes, offered daily, include both strength and conditioning classes as well as a yoga for stretching and stress relief. Flowers says that the center is considering adding a weight management program and a youth fitness program. Membership is affordably priced at this community-based facility. “Pricing is always a major obstacle for people to join, so we have tried to remove that obstacle by offering several different payment options and membership terms,” says Flowers.
