Yellow fingered vandal busted

A Bayside man faces a year in jail for making graffiti against a romantic rival.
About 9:30 on the evening of Sunday, November 2, a police officer from the 111th Precinct responded to a 9-1-1 call of a man spraying paint on a garage door at 48th Avenue and the Clearview Expressway in Bayside.
The officer arrived at the scene to find Matthew J. Rodriguez, 21, of Bayside, standing in front of the door with his hands in his pockets.
According to Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown, the cop also found two spray paint cans in Rodriguez’ pockets - one yellow, one white - yellow paint on his fingers and still-wet yellow graffiti on the garage door.
The criminal complaint charges that Rodriguez allegedly claimed that he wanted to add an insulting comment to a pre-existing graffiti “tag” of another man, who “is seeing his fianc/e.”
Rodriguez was arraigned on Tuesday, November 4, and charged with three misdemeanors: criminal mischief, making graffiti and possession of graffiti instruments. If convicted, he faces a year in jail.
He was released without bail and ordered to return to court on Monday, December 8.
