(So how did that champagne taste, anyway? Did you wear a paper hat? Did you stay up late and celebrate?)
I wish you all a very Happy and Healthy New Year. I pray that this be your best year yet.
Last month, I spoke to you about taking a step back and finding some time to carve out a little comfort in this slightly “less than comfortable” world.
Well, as we are blessed with the birth of another year, I feel it is our job to use our time responsibly, as we help one another to find new paths, new opportunities and new successes in our lives.
There is a time to rest, and there is a time to work. (Wasn’t there a song about that…Turn, Turn, Turn?)
Anyway, the first ingredient that we’ll need to face the New Year is a spirit of “fearless desire.” Please don’t ever be afraid of what you truly want.
Maybe it’s time to ask ourselves lots and lots of questions.
(For example, I wonder about these things)
These are tough questions. The answers require deep thought, or even continual meditation. The answers may even make you feel a bit unsettled. You may discover that there is much work to be done in your life.
(BUT WAIT…)
There is great strength in numbers. If you seek, you will find more support within your community than you ever dreamed imaginable. It’s true. Feeling as if you are not alone in your situation is a very uplifting and hopeful realization. You don’t have to be fearless all by yourself. The world is full of people to cheer you on, support your dreams, and hold your hand. All you need to do is ask for it.
Courage comes from walking towards our fears, not running away from them. Courage comes from realizing that even the “Great and Powerful Oz” was only a man behind a curtain, who really was more bark than bite.
Courage comes from anticipating, that even though the road ahead may be shaky at times, or full of obstacles, your inner voice will still whisper:
“You ‘will’ continue down your path…”
“You ‘will’ move forward towards your goals…”
“You ‘will’ never give up…until you taste your dreams.”
That’s courage…and that’s the “fearless desire” I am wishing for all of you to experience - knowing what you really want and taking whatever steps necessary to getting there.
So enjoy the comfort of December’s memory, but hold strong to your convictions, and get ready for all of the victory and personal growth you will experience in 2009….
…if only you have faith and remain fearless…
Ciao.
