Hybrid rentals available at airports

Enterprise Rent-A-Car recently announced the opening of six tri-state car rental locations that will only rent out hybrid cars and two of them are in Queens. The new rental offices are part of Enterprise’s 80 new locations throughout the country.
The move is seen as perfect timing for holiday season traveling, with the company adding over 5,000 hybrids to its additional stock.
“Whether they’re traveling for business or pleasure, our customers continue to seek out environmentally friendly and fuel-efficient vehicle options,” said Andy Church, vice-president and general manager for Enterprise in New York.
Apart from choosing such hybrids like the Ford Escape or Nissan Altima, customers will also be able to reserve these vehicles by phone or Internet for the first time. The average cost to rent these vehicles will be around $50 per day.
John F. Kennedy International Airport, LaGuardia Airport and 667 11th Avenue in Manhattan are the three hybrid locations in the city.
Founded over 50 years ago in St. Louis, Enterprise Rent-A-Car is the largest car rental company in North America. In 2007, the Taylor Family, which owns the Enterprise Company, donated $25 million to create the Enterprise Rent-A-Car Institute for Renewable Fuels, a program where scientists are conduct studies to find alternative ways to create fuel from renewable plant sources.
In coalition with the Arbor Day Foundation and U.S. Forest Service, the company has also given $50 million to the 50 Million Tree Pledge, an initiative to plant 50 million trees over the next 50 years.
