Assemblymember Audrey Pheffer wants New Yorkers to know that they may be eligible for a New York City tax refund, even if they did not file a regular return.
To be eligible for the tax refund, you must have lived in New York City for part of the year and not be claimed as a dependent on another taxpayer’s federal return. Depending on the number of months you lived in New York City, the refund can be as much as $145 for singles and $290 for a married couple or a surviving spouse. Residents can also file for years back to 2005.
“The form for this tax credit is very simple to fill out and some residents may be entitled to a welcomed refund they did not even know they were eligible for,” said Pheffer.
The form, NYC-210 can be obtained by going to the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance web site at https://www.tax.state.ny.us/forms/form_number_order_mt_pt.htm. You may also obtain a copy of the form and or assistance completing the form at either of Pheffer’s district offices at 90-16 Rockaway Beach Boulevard, Rockaway Beach, or 108-14 Cross Bay Boulevard, Ozone Park.
