Obama’s swearing in unites people

I watched the inauguration of President Barack Obama on TV and was struck with awe and pride. I was impressed with the magnitude of the crowds in Washington.

People of many walks of life gathered there on this momentous occasion, many different races and religions, and the young and old who came together was a triumph for democracy. Obama, it seems to me, is a uniter, not a divider. I felt inspired and hopeful when he said, “On this day, we gather because we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord.”

America is being renewed with hope in the belief that we are one people and will overcome the problems that face America if we all work together.
