We send Woodside couple to Turks and Caicos

A Woodside couple will have a tropical respite next winter thanks to a Queens Courier contest sponsored by American Airlines and Beaches Resorts by Sandals.

An excited Fran and Tony Bruno said that while they could take “un-restricted” advantage of the free business-class airfare and all-inclusive three nights and four days stay at Beaches Turks and Caicos Resort Villages and Spa, they would prefer a little break from the New York cold next January or February.

The couple will travel to “the premier beach resort,” according to Andrea Tatay, the Business Development Manager of Queens and Long Island for Unique Vacations. Tatay said Beaches Turks and Caicos features a full water park – with slides and a surf simulator – a swim-up pool bar, as well as a French, Caribbean and new Italian village, which feature gardens, pools and eclectic dining options including the Barefoot by the Sea restaurant. The beach and water, Tatay told the Brunos, “is probably the best you’ll find anywhere.”

“I almost died!” exclaimed Fran, recalling her excitement upon hearing the news that she had won the getaway. Prior to the Queens Courier’s contest, Fran said she had previously only won tickets to the circus.

“We all read the paper, and we all entered the contest,” Fran said, noting that her co-workers at Maspeth Federal Savings Bank were incredulous that she and Tony had won the trip – simply by having filled out and mailed in a Queens Courier entry form – and would be leaving them in the cold next winter.

While the couple is excited about the plethora of activities at the resort, the dance floor seems to have their names on it already.

“We like dancing, dancing, dancing!” said Tony, who, with his wife, has visited the Caribbean, Aruba and Mexico, but has never been to Turks and Caicos.

Ned Raynolds, American Airlines’ Manager of Corporate Communcations, said American is “delighted to be able to team up with The Queens Courier and make this great vacation package available to Fran and Tony Bruno.”
