LITTLE NECK — A Little Neck teen was charged last week with robbing a neighborhood business and assaulting the store’s owner, a spokeswoman for the Queens district attorney’s office said Tuesday.
Geovanni Ranza, 17, allegedly entered World of Wireless at 56-06 Marathon Pkwy. Aug. 4 between 1:55 p.m. and 2:08 p.m. wearing a white ski mask and white construction gloves when he threw the store owner to the ground, pinned her down by grabbing her right bicep and placing his knee on her right leg and said, “Give me money from the register. I don’t want to hear you,” according to the criminal complaint.
When the owner said she knew who the defendant was, Ranza allegedly told her to shut up and stood her up, grabbed her by the hair and shoved her into a store shelf, according to the complaint.
Ranza then ordered her to open up the cash register, but the owner said it was open, the complaint said.
Ranza allegedly took $350 from the store’s cash register and four cell phones worth $1,625 from a shelf and a glass display and fled, the complaint said.
The owner suffered bruising to her right thigh and right calf, a black eye, broken nose and a cut to her face that required 68 stitches at a local hospital, the complaint said.
Ranza was arraigned Aug. 5 on charges of robbery, assault and criminal possession of stolen property before Queens Criminal Court Judge Stephanie Zaro, who ordered him held on $15,000 bail, the spokeswoman said.
His next court date was scheduled for Aug. 19, the spokeswoman said.
