Kids get toys at 109th

The 109th Precinct held their annual Children’s Holiday Party at P.S. 20, the John Bowne School, on Saturday, December 19.

Although the party for neighborhood children in need was cut short by the first blizzard of the season – that dumped close to a foot of snow on Queens – the kids got to see Santa and receive toys courtesy of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s “Toys for Tots” program.

The bitter cold and strong winds drove the party inside the school, at 142-30 Barclay Avenue, but that didn’t darken the kids’ mood. They got their faces painted, got pizza from Cascarino’s and sweets and treats from JK Bakery, Han Ah Reum Supermarkets and the Flushing Chinese Business Association.

Everyone at the 109th Precinct and the 109th Community Council wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season – and they want you to remember, Santa knows if you’ve been naughty.
