Boro man steals, returns car, then slugs owner: DA

RIDGEWOOD — A 25-year-old Ridgewood man was arrested after he allegedly stole a man’s car and returned it 12 hours later and then punched him, the Queens district attorney said.

David Ruddy of Ridgewood was arraigned March 31 before Queens Criminal Court Judge Deborah Stevens Modica on charges of assault, resisting arrest and harassment, Queens DA Richard Brown said. The defendant, who was held on $5,000 bail, will return to court April 21.

On March 30, the defendant is alleged to have taken the car from Linden Street in Ridgewood and brought it back 12 hours later, the DA said. According to the criminal complaint, he then allegedly punched the car’s owner.

He is also accused of resisting arrest by flailing his arms and causing the arresting officer to sprain her finger and shoulder, Brown said.
