The city has signed deals to acquire four more parcels totaling 33,100 square feet of land in the 62-acre Willets Point area of northeast Queens.
Plans to develop the area, also known as the Iron Triangle, are a major part of Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s vision for his third term at the city’s helm.
The city so far has made such deals with about 25 Willets Point landowners, according to the city Economic Development Corp., and these most recent acquisitions increase the percentage of land the city controls in the first phase of the planned development area to 80 percent.
The parcels purchased were 15,100 square feet from JY Utica, 10,000 square feet from Josianne Sellam, 4,000 square feet from QC Ironworks and 4,000 square feet from Tomco.
The city is in active negotiations with several other Willets Point landowners for their parcels, according to the EDC.
