Duo drive off with stolen pizza toppings: Brown

GLEN OAKS — A Jamaica pair were sentenced to a year in prison for stealing toppings from a pizzeria two weeks ago, the Queens district attorney said.

Ricky Mabry, 53, of 127th Avenue, and Eroll Preston, 58, of 171st Place, pleaded guilty Oct. 5 to criminal possession of stolen property, a day after they were caught taking the pepperoni from the restaurant on Union Turnpike and 259th Street, according to Queens DA Richard Brown.

The owner of the store spotted Preston inside the basement of his pizzeria holding a large green bag and exiting the store, the criminal complaint said.

Preston allegedly walked to a Jeep Cherokee, where Mabry was sitting in the passenger seat, and dropped the bag into the back seat, according to the complaint.

When the owner approached the men about the bag, Mabry said it contained his clothes and drove away, the complaint said.

A police officer eventually found the car and the bag, which contained the chopped up meat, according to the complaint.
