In an effort to reduce crime and keep community residents informed, auxiliary officers from all eight precincts in Queens South, Auxiliary Highway #3, and Auxiliary Special Task Unit mobilized at Pitkin Avenue and Cross Bay Boulevard recently for a Crime Reduction Initiative.
The 50 volunteers flooded the Ozone Park/Howard Beach communities with uniformed presence and distributed fliers with tips on protecting residents from robbery and pick pocketing this holiday season. The initiative was organized by Chief of Patrol James Hall, PBQS Commanding Officer Assistant Chief James Secreto, and Captain Phylis Byrne, the new Commanding Officer of the Auxiliary Police Section, in cooperation with the new 106th CO, Captain Thomas Pascale.
The officers were deployed in the 106th Precinct shopping districts of Liberty Avenue and Pitkin Avenue in Ozone Park, and Cross Bay Boulevard in Howard Beach.
Anyone that is interested in helping make their community a safer place should contact the Auxiliary Police Section Recruitment Unit at NYPDAUX.com, or contact their local Precinct Auxiliary Police Coordinator. The Auxiliary Police Section regularly holds recruitment drives to prepare those interested to join.
