I would like to commend Councilmember Peter F. Vallone for wanting to hold absentee fathers responsible for their children. I think it is a good idea to enact legislation to require a father to be named on a child’s birth certificate before a mother is considered for any city benefits.
Fathers should be forced to help pay for their children’s care and help lessen the burden of the taxpayers. I hope that Vallone succeeds for I believe that a child needs a father for the critical growing years.
