NYRA visits with Big A CB 10

As construction of the Aqueduct Racino continues, the New York Racing Association (NYRA) touched base with the local community at a board meeting.
Joanne Adams, Community Relations Manager for NYRA, spoke to Community Board 10 at its monthly meeting on Thursday, January 6.
Adams announced that the Wood Memorial, a Kentucky Derby prep race, run at Aqueduct, will be held on April 9. The Queens County Handicap will also be held this December.
“NYRA is looking to expand community involvement,” said Elizabeth Braton, chair of Community Board 10, in reference to the updates. Braton has presented trophies to winners of previous races held at Aqueduct.
Adams also told residents that NYRA matched December’s Toys for Tots donations at Aqueduct, providing $20,000 in donations.
The monthly report on the Racino also revealed that the nine local construction contracts have brought more than $30 million to the city and reassurances that construction remains on schedule.
