Residents got an early taste of the Irish spirit on Friday, March 4 when step dancers from the Danny Golden School of Irish Step Dancing performed in the Country Club’s VIP Room a little less than two weeks before St. Patrick’s Day.
Teacher Danny Golden served as the grand marshal of the Garden City Parade on St. Patrick’s Day. At Easter time, some of the dancers will travel to Dublin, Ireland to take part in the World’s Competition for Irish Dancing.
About 20 kids between ages seven and 22 are involved in the school, which is part of the Irish American Society in Mineola and Brooklyn. During their recent performance, the children did reels, jigs, slip jigs and traditional horn pipe dances.
