Bloomberg speaks about potential attacks as 9/11 approaches

As the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks approach, Federal Authorities have received credible information that terrorists may be plotting an attack.
Though the threat is credible, it has not yet been corroborated, but the threats must be taken seriously said Mayor Michael Bloomberg at a press conference Thursday.
Sources told the Daily News that the operatives are allegedly targeting transit hubs with car bombs.
The mayor said he has spoken with the executive director of the MTA. Jay Walder and security at MTA bridges, tunnels, and other transit infrastructure will be heightened. He also spoke with Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano about the threat and what is being done in response.
Over the past decade, the NYPD has stopped 13 terrorist attacks, the mayor said.
“The NYPD is deploying additional resources around the City and taking other steps to keep our city safe,” said Bloomberg who was joined at the press conference by Police Commissioner Ray Kelly, Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI’s New York Office Jan Fedarcyk, and Brian Parr of the Department of Homeland Security
“Here’s what you’ve got to do: If you see something, say something and that has always been true, and over the next few days, we should all keep our eyes wide open,” the mayor said.
Bloomberg urged residents who see something potentially suspicious to cal 3-1-1 and 9-1-1 if they see something potentially dangerous.
“The best thing that we can do to fight terror is to refuse to be intimidated by it,” said the Mayor who added he would take the train to work this morning. “So go about your business as you normally would, but just be vigilant.”
