Family run jewelry giant has it all for you

At Gelber and Mundy Jewelry, everything from diamond necklaces and bracelets to designer watches with flair are showcased to New Yorkers – all for irresistible prices.
With one location in Queens (5 Bond Street in Great Neck) and another in Manhattan (74 Bowery), Gelber and Munday has been serving New York for over 61 years as a family-owned business. Founded by Hy Zuckerman and partners Ben Gelber and Irv Mondshein, the jewelry giant is currently operated by Zuckerman’s sons, David and Howard, both certified Gemological Institute of America (GIA) graduates. David Zuckerman said his father first became involved in the jewelry business at age 18 and to this day retains his passion and love for precious gems.
Many of Gelber and Mundy’s customers are third-generation, which Zuckerman attributes not only to their wide selection of jewelry and watches, but for the exceptional service provided to each person.
“Everything we do involves the customer getting individualized attention,” said Zuckerman. “When you’re making an important purchase, whether it be for an engagement ring or special birthday gift, we are there for you every step of the way to make sure you’re happy with what you purchase.”
Gelber and Mundy carries a full line of GIA-certified diamonds and is an authorized dealer of nearly 20 major watch brands that carry a full factory warranty, including Longines and TAG Heuer. Zuckerman said they are the oldest dealer of Baume et Mercier watches in the United States.
For those interested in doing custom work, they help patrons design and create settings and rings to their delight and also assists with simple repairs.
“This is really our passion and it definitely shows in all the work we do, so that’s what makes a big difference,” said Zuckerman.
Gelber and Mundy is open in Great Neck from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday and in Manhattan from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., Monday through Friday. For more information, visit gelbermundy.com or call 212-925-0639 or 516-482-1585.
