SOUTH OZONE PARK — Firefighters braved heavy smoke and flames Monday night to save a man in his 40s who was found with no pulse from a fire at the Executive Motor Inn, at 138th Avenue and Cranston Street, the New York Post reported.
At around 4 p.m., members of Engine 302 and Ladder 155 arrived on the scene, where the victim as in a third-floor room of the hotel, according to the Post.
Firefighter John Summerville crawled into the room and, after finding the victim, pulled him out and put him in an ambulance, where another member of Engine 302 began performing CPR and got a pulse back, according to the newspaper.
“I found him face down by the window,” Summerville told the Post. “The situation was like an inferno.”
The victim was listed in critical condition Monday night, the Post said.
