Knifed by Son

Father Stabbed & Cuffed For Domestic Dispute

An apparent domestic dispute between a father and his two children inside a Ridgewood home last Saturday night, Apr. 14, came to a bloody end when one of the youngsters knifed him in the chest, law enforcement sources reported.

Police said that the young assailant, age 13, was taken into custody and charged as a juvenile with felony assault. His identity was withheld by the NYPD due to his age.

The father-identified by authorities as Angel Andino, 38, of Summerfield Street in Ridgewood-was treated at a local hospital for his nonlife threatening injury, then booked by authorities on assault charges in connection with the dispute.

Law enforcement sources said the trouble began at around 10:50 p.m. in front of a home on 67th Avenue near 60th Lane.

According to information provided by the Queens District Attorney’s office, Andino got into an argument with his 15-year-old daugh- ter. The exchange reportedly turned physical when he allegedly grabbed the girl by her hair and pushed her into the hallway.

Seconds later, police said, his 13- year-old son intervened and stabbed him in the torso.

Members of the 104th Precinct and EMS units responded to the scene. Andino was brought by paramedics to Elmhurst Hospital Center for treatment.

Following an investigation, both Andino and his 13-year-old son were taken into custody in connection with the incident. The 13-year-old boy’s case is currently pending in Queens Family Court.

Andino was arraigned in Queens Criminal Court on Monday, Apr. 16 before Judge Michael Yavinsky on charges of third-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child. He was released on $1,000 bail, according to court records.
